A volunteer, backyard nursery fostering young trees to be planted in the DC metro area

As a hobby during the pandemic, we began collecting volunteer trees from backyard flowerbeds and mulched areas. We’ve been fostering them in pots until they are large enough to be planted in areas of need around DC. During our first season in 2020, we acquired 16 trees, and by 2022 our backyard nursery had 100 young trees. The majority of our current stock will come ready for replanting by 2025. Our goal is to donate 500 trees for replanting by the year 2030.
